Position Summary

The Restoration Mitigation Manager is responsible for overseeing all water, fire, mold, and emergency mitigation operations. This role ensures projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with industry standards such as the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

The Mitigation Manager leads technicians and project managers, manages equipment and scheduling, maintains quality control, ensures proper documentation, and drives gross profit performance across all mitigation projects.

This position is both operational and strategic — responsible for team leadership, financial performance, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily mitigation operations including water, fire, mold, storm, and biohazard losses
  • Manage emergency response scheduling (24/7 on-call rotation)
  • Assign crews and equipment based on job scope and capacity
  • Ensure compliance with IICRC standards (WRT, ASD, AMRT, etc.)
  • Monitor job timelines to meet dry standards and cycle time targets

2. Financial Performance & Job Profitability

  • Ensure mitigation jobs hit target gross profit margins (goal: 45–60% depending on service type)
  • Review estimates written in Xactimate for accuracy and completeness
  • Approve labor hours and equipment usage
  • Track:
    • Revenue per technician
    • Revenue per truck
    • Average job size
    • Equipment utilization rate
  • Reduce write-offs and billing errors

3. Estimating & Documentation Oversight

  • Review and approve mitigation estimates before submission
  • Ensure all jobs include:
    • Moisture maps
    • Dry logs
    • Psychrometric readings
    • Photo documentation
    • Signed work authorizations
  • Ensure documentation meets carrier and TPA requirements

4. Team Management & Development

  • Supervise mitigation technicians and lead technicians
  • Hire, train, and onboard new staff
  • Conduct weekly team meetings
  • Enforce safety and compliance standards
  • Implement performance improvement plans when needed
  • Develop lead technicians into future project managers

5. Equipment & Asset Management

  • Maintain inventory of:
    • Air movers
    • Dehumidifiers
    • HEPA air scrubbers
    • Extraction units
    • Moisture meters
  • Track equipment location and utilization
  • Ensure routine maintenance and cleaning
  • Prevent loss and theft

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce OSHA safety standards
  • Ensure PPE usage on all jobs
  • Conduct jobsite safety audits
  • Maintain proper handling protocols for mold and biohazard projects
  • Maintain required certifications and training compliance

7. Customer & Partner Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with:
    • Insurance adjusters
    • Property managers
    • Plumbers
    • Facility managers
  • Resolve escalated customer complaints
  • Conduct job walk-throughs with clients
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction scores

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years restoration experience
  • 2+ years in leadership role
  • Strong Xactimate proficiency
  • IICRC WRT certification

Preferred:

  • IICRC ASD and/or AMRT certifications
  • Experience with TPAs (e.g., Contractor Connection, Alacrity, Sedgwick)
  • Knowledge of drying science and psychrometrics
  • Experience scaling mitigation operations

Compensation Structure (Example)

  • Base Salary: $75,000–$110,000 (depending on market)
