Position Summary

The Restoration Sales Estimator is responsible for inspecting property damage, preparing accurate estimates, presenting scopes of work, and closing restoration and reconstruction projects. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the company, the property owner, and the insurance carrier, ensuring projects are properly scoped, approved, and transitioned into production.

The ideal candidate understands insurance restoration processes, can write clean, defensible estimates in Xactimate, and has strong customer service and closing skills.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Estimating

  • Inspect residential and commercial properties for water, fire, mold, storm, and specialty losses
  • Identify cause of loss, scope required mitigation and reconstruction work
  • Prepare accurate, line-item estimates using Xactimate (or Symbility if applicable)
  • Develop detailed scopes of work compliant with carrier and TPA standards
  • Present estimates and explain coverage, deductibles, and processes to property owners
  • Close restoration and reconstruction projects in accordance with company targets

Insurance & TPA Coordination

  • Communicate with adjusters, desk reviewers, and TPA reviewers
  • Submit estimates, documentation, photos, and required forms
  • Handle supplements, revisions, and negotiation as needed
  • Ensure estimates meet carrier pricing, compliance, and audit standards
  • Track approvals and maintain proper documentation in CRM / job management system

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as primary customer contact from inspection through job start
  • Set expectations regarding timelines, approvals, and next steps
  • Maintain professional, empathetic communication during stressful loss situations
  • Build trust to drive high close rates and positive reviews

Internal Coordination

  • Transition sold jobs to production teams with complete documentation
  • Coordinate with project managers, mitigation managers, and operations
  • Attend job handoff meetings and assist with scope clarifications
  • Identify upsell or additional scope opportunities during project lifecycle

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in insurance restoration estimating and sales
  • Proficiency in Xactimate (Level 2 or higher preferred)
  • Strong understanding of water, fire, mold, and reconstruction scopes
  • Knowledge of insurance claims process and TPA workflows
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed

Preferred Certifications

  • IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, etc.)
  • Xactimate Certification (Level 2 or 3)
  • Haag certification (a plus)

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to inspect damaged properties, including attics, crawlspaces, and job sites
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Exposure to construction environments, moisture, debris, and PPE requirements
