The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and John Burns Real Estate Consulting released the Kitchen and Bath Market Index (KBMI) Q1 Report about the kitchen and bath industry. The report has shown heavy trends of kitchen and bathroom renovations, even reaching its highest score since the founding of the index. Notably, the report shows a major shift from DIY projects to larger general contracting projects.

The NKBA found that the 2020 surge of smaller home projects has been reversed as homeowner outlook changes during the pandemic. Home additions, outdoor builds, and room renovations have all been on the rise in an effort to improve home functionality.
“We’re seeing an incomparable surge in homeowners looking to rearrange floor plans, tear out complete kitchens, baths and other rooms to make space for increased activity within the home, and generally create a space that better suits their evolving needs,” states CEO Bill Darcy.
